Humbling

Here, you can a recipient of an Amor home in San Carlos as he scrubs his old pickup truck with soapy water and an old broom. I can't tell you the last time I washed my car. Watching someone else who has so little take so much pride in what he has certainly changes one's perspective.

Shower Beer of the Week

Hop Shock IPA by local San Tan Brewing Company. The citrus cascade hops will go wonderfully with my energizing citrus body wash.

Life & Coffee

Visited this little café in Globe for the first time today. Got a large fruit parfait and a large coffee for what it would have cost for a combo at Jack in the Box. They have Big Train chai and open mic. I will be back.

Yes, Please

Found this on the interweb today:

In the description, they even got their little bit of history correct. Now I just wish I had a couch so that I could wish that I would find $28 worth of change in it to afford this sweet little throwback.

Although I will say that it would be even sweeter if it said VPI on it instead of Virginia Tech.

Delicious

Stuffed Aegean burger and Count Hopula IPA at San Tan Brewing in Chandler. This burger was served medium rare, stuffed with olives and cheese and finished with feta and a pesto aioli. It rocked my face off.

This is How I Come Home From the Field

This is a picture of a shower and a beer, both of which I'll be enjoying momentarily. Btdubz, Wasatch Pumpkin Ale is pretty pumpkiny and pretty delicious.

The Original Title of This Post Was to Be Me: 1 Black Widows: 0

I often have to fill barrels of water and haul them to work sites in my truck. Below, you will see two photos of one such barrel. One has a black widow in it. The other features the same black widow after it had been motionless underwater for a minute or two courtesy of me. I was convinced I had killed this black widow until I took off down the road, looked in my rearview and saw the spider emerging from the barrel. Apparently, black widows are impervious to drowning, which makes toilets scarier, I think.

I Think I Am Going To Like This Book

If morality represents how people would like the world to work, then economics shows how it actually does work.

Warm Bowl on a Cold Day

Chalo's spicy bowl of green chile with a couple tortillas. The perfect loner lunch after a cold, rainy day on The Rez.

Storm Clouds Over The Desert

This was my drive into San Carlos today.

Good Evening

Just got done with worship. Now I have a well constructed six pack, a little work to do and skype to install. Not too bad

Lights, Camera, Meh

Saw Killer Elite last night. The movie featured Robert De Niro, Jason Statham and Clive Owen. Figured it was a can't miss. Turns out I was wrong. Extremely cliched, regrettable dialogue. Action movies either have to have a decent plot (like every other movie) or they need to have a ridiculously implausible plot to add to the absurd entertainment value. Killer Elite had neither. First time in my life I was nearly put to sleep by the sound of gunfire.

The best thing I got out of the movie was before it even started. When they put random stuff up on the screen before the previews, this quote popped up:

"To the world you may just be one person, but to one person you may just be the world"

The View in San Carlos

It's good to be back in the field.
